I had to chuckle when I found this blog entry on the sock monkey helmet cover. I am modifying this pattern along with inspiration from the droid hat to make my daughter a droid helmet cover. As I am not a terribly experienced crocheter, I am leery of it turning out well enough. I guess that's why I bought the second ball of green yarn, for the second version.

Thanks so much for the guidance!

Hi Deborah, I just now found the time to make the aviator hat for newborn. I am stuck on round 14 where it says on the bottom edge of the earflap, sc, 2sc in next st. Does that mean 3 sc in one stitch, or does it mean a sc in one stitch and then 2 sc in another?
Thank you,
Janet Meyer

I was able to whip up one of these last night in just over 2 hours for my stepson who collects skulls. It turned out great! I used red heart burgundy for the skull and red heart urban camo for the background. Thank you for the pattern!

I think this is really cute. My husband works for t-mobile so I made this for him today. This was my first time reading and following a crochet pattern, but it turned out well. I made it without the arms b/c I kept confusing myself. Otherwise easy to follow and a fun hat to make.

Thanks
